Keagan Fischer April Student of the Month is the daughter of Brad & Kelli Fischer and Lori Maltby-Fischer.  Keagan holds the merit of outstanding student and citizen within the Bellaire community.  Her emphasis on academics and helping others shows through as she constantly works to challenge herself in the classroom as well as in athletics as a three-sport athlete.  While maintaining excellent grades in school, Keagan also participates within many other student groups where her leadership and character is extremely apparent.  Keagan has, and continues to dedicate her time outside of the classroom in helping other students in our tutoring program.  She not only assists other students in finishing homework and studying, but also easily embeds good habits regarding time management, academics and organization through her role modeling.  Keagan is also a second year member of the Bellaire chapter of the National Honor Society where she consistently strives to give back to her local community.  Keagan’s ability to make these connections and give herself and her time to others not only proves her own commitment to setting and achieving high standards, but also made her a sympathetic leader.  Keagan has participated in many athletic sports teams, group clubs, and student organizations.  She has continued to keep her grades and standards of studying high with a 3.7 grade point average as she commits her time to the school, the Bellaire community and others.  Keagan will attend college in Alpena and play on their basketball team.
Hailey Casillas, daughter of Rodney Taylor and Melissa Casillas has been nominated as the May Student of the Month and will go to Lake Superior State and play basketball.  Hailey exudes confidence in herself, whether it be in the classroom or in her participation of Cross Country, Basketball and Track & Field.  She continuously strives to train harder and be the best competitor she can.  This same attitude can be seen within Hailey and her high academic achievements in school holding a 3.65 grade point average.  Hailey takes pride in her studies and works to educate herself in subjects that both interest and move her.  Hailey has taken many elevated online courses in Environmental Science as a high school student in pursuit of her goal to work within the field.  She strives to take part within activities that surround the environment, and has even served as the lead survey student for four years working with the Grand Traverse Watershed program.   Hailey’s continuous work with others as a member of the Bellaire Chapter of the National Honor Society is only a glimpse into this amazing young female student-athlete who truly embodies great leadership, self-motivation, and the will and drive to succeed.  These qualities will only continue to drive her to succeed in her future as a student at Lake Superior State University next fall.
Mary Spyhalski gave information on the Trojan Pantry she helped start at Central Lake Public Schools where students who participate gets to shop 10-15 minutes and they are able to have better meals at home.  They use the old home ec classroom and teach some ideas for healthier snacks and would like to teach some cooking classes.

Jill brought Corinne Dowd who filled out application form.  Also asked Peggy Stevens if she would consider joining Bellaire Rotary - and she filled out an application as well.  SO, Gary asked Mary Spyhalski who will consider joining as well.  Jill had commitment from another friend, Dolores Moldenhauer, but Dolores' daughter went into labor, so Dolores was driving to Ohio to help.
Respectfully, Jill Barnard
